SCHEDULE: Mon - Sat: Days and Evenings; must be flexible to meet the needs of the individuals and families supported

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Under the direction of the Senior Program Coordinator and Planning Specialist, the Support Specialist provides any and/or all comprehensive service delivery within the division using a person-centered approach. Primary focus will be on Mobile Services.  The Support Specialist will follow the National Association of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) code of ethics. They will deploy and document activities outlined in the individual's service plan(s).    It requires attention to daily living skills (ADL's) which includes/but not limited to lifting, toileting, assisting with hygiene needs, transferring from wheelchair to chair or vice versa, or other. It also requires adaptation to a variety of work environments.

 

 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating meaningful and billable documentation records based on services delivered
  • Supporting a person in their own home and/or community
  • Demonstrates the following desirable professional qualities in the work site: professional demeanor, attention to punctuality and attendance policies, reliability, flexibility and pleasantness
  • Supporting active participation in the community
  • Supports the safety of all individuals in everyday situations
  • Uses effective communication skills to establish collaborative relationships
  • Will be required to use your private vehicle to transport the people we support.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:                                         

  • Associates degree in Human Service or related field preferred, High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is required or Associates degree in Human Service or related field
  • CPR/First Aid/ OPWDD regulated crisis prevention, intervention and resolution strategies within the first 90 days of employment.
